Not just relief.
Real lasting change.
Understanding yourself is where change begins. We are a private psychotherapy practice in New York City offering in-depth, psychodynamic therapy for adults seeking to know themselves more deeply — and to transform the patterns that are keeping them stuck in place.
We are two clinical psychologists — each with over 15 years of experience — who share a deep commitment to psychodynamic work and to the clients who seek it. We founded NYC Psychotherapy Associates to offer something that has become increasingly rare: committed, authentic, relationship-centered therapy in the heart of New York City. We offer sessions in person at our office in Union Square and via telehealth throughout New York State.
What makes our practice different
Intentionally small caseload
We keep our practices small by design, so we can offer each client our full attention, care, and presence — not a slot in an overscheduled calendar.
Over 15 years of experience
We bring deep clinical experience to every session. We’ve worked with a wide range of people and know how to meet complexity with care.
Direct, personal care
There is no front desk, no receptionist, no intake coordinator. When you contact us, you hear from us. Your care stays with us, start to finish.
A space that feels yours
Our office is quiet, comfortable, and fully private — designed so that you can relax into the work from the moment you walk in.
We practice psychodynamic therapy — a depth-oriented approach that explores how your past experiences, unconscious patterns, and relational history shape who you are today. Rather than offering quick fixes, we work collaboratively with you over time to bring these patterns to light, so that you can relate to yourself and others in new and more fulfilling ways.
We have a particular focus on relational trauma and the long-lasting effects of growing up in a dysfunctional family. Whether that looked like emotional neglect, unpredictable caregivers, enmeshment, or chronic conflict — we understand how those early experiences can echo through adult life, and we know how to work with them.
Our approach
“We believe that transformation comes from understanding yourself at the root — not just managing symptoms at the surface.”
You’ve reached a point where you want more than coping strategies. Something in your relationships, your sense of self, or your recurring struggles feels rooted in something deeper — and you’re ready to explore it. Perhaps you grew up in a family that left marks you’re still making sense of. Maybe intimacy has always felt complicated, or you find yourself replaying the same painful dynamics no matter how much you try to change.
